Michael Carrick makes huge Andrey Santos claim
Speaking during a sit-down with journalists, Carrick described Santos as “a dream” to work with and highlighted the midfielder’s maturity despite his age.
Samuel Luckhurst reports that Carrick has been particularly impressed by Santos’ character, positivity and willingness to communicate with teammates.
The United boss also praised the midfielder’s eagerness to learn and his ability to immediately contribute to the group rather than simply focus on establishing himself.
Santos has started all five of United’s pre-season matches so far, giving Carrick an extended opportunity to assess how he fits into his midfield plans.
ReadManUtd highlighted after the Leeds game how Santos has already put himself firmly into the conversation for a starting role when the Premier League season begins.
Competition will increase as Kobbie Mainoo returns and Youri Tielemans builds towards full fitness, while Carrick has also confirmed United would still like another midfielder before the transfer window closes.
Santos, however, appears to have made an excellent first impression.
Carrick’s comments suggest the Brazilian is already doing much more than simply adapting to a new club. His personality and performances have put him in a strong position to play a major role when United begin their Premier League campaign.
