Bruno Fernandes heads into Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Everton this afternoon with the opportunity to claim another club record following his spectacular performance against Ipswich Town.
The United captain scored a hat-trick and provided an assist in last weekend’s 5-2 victory at Old Trafford, taking his strong start to the new campaign to another level.
Now just one goal involvement at Hill Dickinson Stadium would move Fernandes clear of two United legends in the club’s Premier League history.
Bruno Fernandes level with Beckham and Giggs
Fernandes has produced six goals and five assists across 13 Premier League appearances against Everton.
His 11 goal involvements leave him level with David Beckham and Ryan Giggs for the most recorded by a Manchester United player against Everton in the Premier League.
A goal or assist this afternoon would therefore take Fernandes to 12 and give him the record outright.
It is another indication of just how productive the Portuguese midfielder has been against Sunday’s opponents.
Fernandes scored in his first Premier League meeting with Everton in March 2020 before producing two goals and an assist in a 3-1 victory at Goodison Park later that year.
He has since taken his league record against the Toffees to 11 contributions from 13 games, an average of 0.85 per appearance.
Fernandes arrives after Ipswich masterclass
The timing could hardly be better.
ReadManUtd reported how Fernandes scored three times and supplied another goal in United’s 5-2 victory over Ipswich, providing Michael Carrick’s side with the attacking inspiration they lacked in their opening defeat at Hull City.
Reuters described Fernandes as moving from provider to scorer against Ipswich after the reigning Premier League Player of the Season produced his second league hat-trick.
His creative numbers remain just as significant.
The Premier League confirmed that Fernandes registered a competition-record 21 assists during 2025/26, surpassing the previous single-season mark held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
That campaign took him to 72 career Premier League assists, with last weekend’s contribution against Ipswich moving him to 73.
Everton must stop United captain
Everton therefore face United’s most obvious attacking threat arriving in excellent form.
David Moyes’ side have started the season unbeaten and should provide a considerably different challenge to Ipswich.

For Fernandes, however, the individual equation is simple.
