Lisandro Martinez believes Leny Yoro can become the future of Manchester United after the young defender produced an impressive performance in Thursday’s 4-0 Champions League win over Sabah.
Leny Yoro finally got his chance to start at centre-back, lining up alongside Lisandro Martinez as Michael Carrick made changes to his defence. The 20-year-old took his opportunity, looking comfortable throughout the game and showing why United still have such high hopes for him.
Martinez was particularly impressed with Yoro’s composure and defensive work.
“Amazing performance from Leny,” Martinez said after the Sabah game.
“He played so well defensively, with the ball, being calm, being composed in every situation, one-vs-one.”

The Argentina international went further than simply praising his teammate’s display. Martinez believes Leny Yoro has the ability to become an important player for United for years to come.
“He’s the future of this club, honestly. And we have to help him, you know.”
Yoro had a brilliant game and made a statement, particularly as he looks to establish himself in Carrick’s team.
The Frenchman has not always had a straightforward route into the starting XI, but his showing against Sabah gave him a strong performance to build on.
Michael Carrick now has another option to consider at the back, with Yoro’s performance making a case for more opportunities in the coming weeks.
For Yoro, the challenge is to produce the same level consistently. Martinez, though, clearly believes the young defender has everything required to become a key figure at Old Trafford.
