Noussair Mazraoui scores as Manchester United stars impress on international duty

Noussair Mazraoui was the standout Manchester United player on international duty on Friday after finding the net for Morocco in their 2-0 win over Gabon.

The defender opened the scoring in Rabat in the 36th minute, driving forward before sending a low right-footed shot from around 20 yards into the corner. It was Mazraoui’s third goal for Morocco and his first since October 2020.

Soufiane Rahimi added a second late on as Morocco made a winning start to their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Youri Tielemans and Senne Lammens both completed 90 minutes for Belgium in their 2-0 Nations League victory over Italy in Rome. Tielemans continued as captain, while Lammens earned his fourth senior cap and kept a clean sheet.

Mika Godts and Dodi Lukebakio scored Belgium’s goals.

Leny Yoro waits for France debut

Leny Yoro was an unused substitute as France began their Nations League campaign with a 1-0 win over Turkey. Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal before suffering an injury.

Yoro will now hope to make his senior debut when France face Belgium on Monday.

Andrey Santos also remained on the bench for Brazil in their 1-1 friendly draw with Australia. Nestory Irankunda gave the hosts the lead before Rayan scored a late equaliser for Brazil.

Manchester United will have several more players in action on Sunday. Patrick Dorgu’s Denmark face Wales, while Joshua Zirkzee’s Netherlands meet Serbia, both at 17:00 BST.

Later, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot are expected to be involved as Portugal travel to Norway.
