Latest Manchester United efforts on JJ Gabriel revealed

Manchester United are still hoping to keep hold of JJ Gabriel, but there has been little movement between the club and the youngster’s camp with his 16th birthday now just weeks away.

JJ Gabriel can sign a scholarship deal with Manchester United once he turns 16 on October 6. However, there has been no indication that he is currently ready to commit his future to the club, as per TeamTalk.

The highly-rated youngster will also be able to move abroad after turning 16 because he holds an EU passport. That allows EU citizens aged between 16 and 18 to move within the community, creating an option that is not available to players from outside the region.

Europe emerges as likely destination for Gabriel

Chelsea remain the main English club interested in Gabriel, but his camp are understood to be pushing towards a move to Europe.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have both held talks over the teenager. Barcelona sporting director Deco recently played down his club’s involvement, although talks between the two sides have taken place.

Spain currently appears to be the most likely destination, while Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain have also made contact with Gabriel’s representatives.

Another key date is October 6, when Gabriel turns 16 and can officially appoint an agent. Epic Sports chief Ali Barat is expected to become his first representative, as revealed by TeamTalk.

Manchester United’s priority remains unchanged to convince Gabriel to stay and commit his future to the club, despite the lack of progress so far.
