Manchester United have reportedly put a figure on Bruno Fernandes despite the club and captain currently having no intention of ending their relationship.
Bruno Fernandes is now 32 and has entered the final year of his contract, although Manchester United have the option to extend it for another season. That could give INEOS a decision to make next summer if there is serious interest in the Portugal international. However, Michael Carrick is eager to tie his captain to another deal.
According to CaughtOffside, Fernandes continues to attract attention from several major European clubs. Galatasaray are interested, while Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are also monitoring his situation.
A transfer is not what either side wants. Fernandes’ priority remains staying at Old Trafford, while United’s official position is that their captain is not for sale.
Manchester United have a figure in mind for Fernandes
There is reportedly a number that could change the club’s stance.
CaughtOffside journalist Mark Brus claims United would consider selling Fernandes for a fee in the region of €50-60 million.
“While the official position is that Fernandes is not for sale, there would obviously be a price that could convince the club,” Brus reported.
He added that the figure would need to be around €50-60m, although there is a question over whether clubs would pay that amount for a 32-year-old midfielder.
Fernandes remains one of the most important players in United’s squad and is still their captain and creative leader. He had a stellar season last time as he went on to break the Premier League assist record, providing 21 assists. But with his contract situation unresolved and interest growing elsewhere, his long-term future could become a bigger talking point over the coming months.
Staying at United remains Fernandes’ preference. The €50-60m figure, however, gives a clear indication of where the club’s thinking could be if that position changes.
