Manchester United could send defender out on loan in January

Manchester United could consider sending Leny Yoro out on loan in January if the defender continues to struggle for regular first-team football at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old has started just two matches this season and remains short of consistent games. His lack of game time has become a concern, particularly because Manchester United need Yoro playing regularly if he is to continue developing.

Leny Yoro did receive a major boost during the international break, making his senior France debut in the 4-1 win over Belgium on October 5. He had an impressive outing, and French manager Zidane was full of praise for the debutant.

Despite the praise and an impressive outing, returning to United could bring him straight back into a battle for minutes.

Leny Yoro loan could benefit everyone

Former United chief scout Mick Brown believes the situation is difficult for both player and club.

“It’s a difficult one to judge with Leny Yoro because he is a very talented player,” Brown told Football Insider.

Brown’s biggest concern is that Yoro needs to play every week, something United may not be able to offer him right now.

“They’d prefer to go with more proven, tried and tested options because of the situation they are in, they need to win games,” he explained.

Brown also believes there are areas of Yoro’s game that still need work.

“He is excellent technically, on the ball he’s very good, but the physical and the mental side of his game is lacking,” he said.

A loan move could therefore give Yoro exactly what he currently needs. Consistent game time, matches, responsibility and the chance to deal with difficult situations every week.

Brown expects there would be plenty of interest in taking the defender until the end of the season. Yoro has already made 70 appearances for United, but regular football could be the next important step in his development.
