Manchester United are reported to be close to completing the deal to sign Brazilian international Fred, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The deal for the 25-year-old is set to be finalised in early June as United look to react after finishing some way behind Manchester City last season.
Fred has also been named in Brazil’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia and will face Croatia at Anfield for a friendly.
The club are looking to boost their midfield with Michael Carrick retiring and Marouane Fellaini looking like he will depart Old Trafford this summer.
He is a box to box midfielder and is exactly what United need after at times last season finding it tough to have a consistent player in this position.
Manchester City were for a time keen on the player, but it’s now thought that United are the only club in for the player
