Manchester United have England midfielder on radar – It’s not Anderson
  • Manchester United interested in England international
  • Casemiro is leaving
  • A midfield overhaul anticipated

Manchester United are continuing their search for midfielders to prepare for life after Casemiro, and it looks like they have set their eyes on an England youngster as a potential candidate.

The summer transfer window is still a few months away. However, the United rumours mill has already started picking up pace. The Red Devils are expected to bring in a number of new faces to reinforce various positions, especially in the midfield.

This is due to the fact that Casemiro’s departure from Old Trafford is confirmed. So United will have to find a potential replacement once the transfer window reopens.

A number of candidates have already been linked with United for the role, including Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton, among others. Now it seems the club has added another highly rated player to its shortlist.

According to Manchester United correspondent Samuel Luckhurst of The Sun, Alex Scott has caught the attention of the Red Devils and is now on the club’s radar after showcasing some impressive football for Bournemouth this season.

Alex Scott Could Be Good Option

Scott’s numbers for Bournemouth speak for themselves this season. Indeed, the youngster has made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

At just 22 years old, Scott has already established himself as a quality midfielder. Needless to say, he is yet to reach his true potential and is still developing.

Scott could be a great fit for United, with the ability to play in defensive midfield and the number 10 role in addition to his preferred centre-midfield position.

The former Bristol City youngster impressed in both the 4-4 draw at Old Trafford and the 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium between the two sides. He is just knocking on the door regarding a place in the England team but doesn’t look likely to make the World Cup.

More Than One

United might have to sign another midfielder even if they bring in Scott. This is because Casemiro’s departure means one of the most experienced members of the current United squad won’t be there next season to guide the youngsters.

The Red Devils are increasingly likely to qualify for the Champions League, currently sitting in third place in the Premier League. As a result, moving forward, United will need someone who has proven themselves on the biggest stages. That said, for now, we’ll have to wait and see how things pan out in the summer.
