- Man Utd target Eduardo Camavinga rules out transfer
- Frenchman wants to stay at Real Madrid
- Aurelien Tchouameni also wanted
Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga wants to stay at the club despite speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United. The Frenchman has endured a frustrating season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Camavinga has come in and out of Madrid’s starting lineup and some dissapointing displays led to talk over a potential exit. He has just over three years on his contract with the La Liga giants.
Reports claimed that United were keeping tabs on Camavinga and his French teammate Aurelien Tchouameni. But the former has all but confirmed that he intends to remain in the Spanish capital.
Man Utd learn Camavinga stance
Camavinga addressed rumours over his future and made clear he sees himself playing for Madrid next season. He said (via Fabrizio Romano):
“It’s always a pleasure to play at Real Madrid and a dream come true. Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be here. Now we have to think about winning next season.”
United are set for a major midfield overhaul this summer ahead of Casemiro’s departure. The former Madrid hero is leaving the club when his contract expires in June.
Camavinga arrived at the Bernabeu just one year before Casemiro left for the Red Devils in the summer of 2022. The French star had been on the club’s radar but opted to join Los Blancos from Rennes for £34.4m.
The 23-year-old has made 43 appearances across competitions this season, registering two goals and one assist. He is a name whom INEOS will now be ruling out on their shortlist.
Tchouameni is the ideal Casemiro replacement
Tchouameni is the superior option for United because he boasts similarities to Casemiro. The 26-year-old is a dominant defensive midfielder and is similarly accomplished on the ball.
The Frenchman also boasts more pace, given his age, and bringing him to Old Trafford would be an unbelievable statement. He replaced Casemiro at the Bernabeu, and he’s proven a worthy heir for the most part.
That said, there’s no indication that Tchouameni wants to leave Madrid despite recent issues behind-the-scenes. He was involved in two physical altercations with Federico Valverde, which only further fuelled talk of a potential summer exit.
United are reportedly ready to swoop for the player if Los Blancos allow him to leave. He has two years on his contract, and if he does stay put, he’ll be playing under Jose Mourinho next season.
