- Man Utd could launch Aurelien Tchouameni move
- The Frenchman has been in hot water at Real Madrid
- Red Devils want a Casemiro replacement
Manchester United are reportedly ready to launch a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The Frenchman is one of several options the club has in mind ahead of Casemiro’s departure in June.
Controversy has ensued at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent weeks amid a rift between Tchouameni and Federico Valverde. The pair have been involved in two fights during training sessions.
This came after United were initially linked with Tchouameni, who has two years left on his contract at Madrid. The French star and Valverde attended an internal disciplinary meeting on Friday and accepted fines of £432,000 (500,000 euros) each, per BBC Sport.
Man Utd Want Tchouameni
There hasn’t been any expectation that Madrid will further punish the duo by considering a sale. But United are still hopeful that the door will open.
According to Tyrone Marshall of Manchester Evening News, the Premier League giants are “ready to try and lure” the Frenchman to Old Trafford if he’s allowed to leave the Bernabeu.
Tchouameni has been with Madrid since the summer of 2022 and has been a crucial player for Los Blancos. This season, he’s appeared 47 times across competitions, posting two goals and as many assists.
The 26-year-old could be the ideal Casemiro replacement as he took the Brazilian’s spot at the Spanish capital club when he moved to United. There’s no word on whether the behind-the-scenes drama between him and Valverde could help a deal.
“Unbelievable Signing” – Rio Ferdinand on Tchouameni
Rio Ferdinand has made clear he’d be fully in support of United moving for Tchouameni. The legendary former defender gave a glowing verdict of the former AS Monaco man while speaking on Rio Meets:
“I really like Tchouameni. If we could get him, I think it would be an unbelievable signing. If we can pounce in a moment where there’s a bit of destabilisation at the football club, and his position is a bit of a concern for them. I think we’ve got to strike.”
Tchouameni isn’t the only high-profile name on United’s midfield shortlist. The club are also eyeing Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, although the Englishman looks increasingly likely to join rivals Manchester City.
The Madrid star has years of experience playing at the highest level, having made over 190 appearances for the La Liga giants. He’s won the Champions League and La Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu.
