- Man Utd eyeing Morgan Rogers
- Aston Villa man likely to cost £100m
- Arsenal and Liverpool also keen
Manchester United are reportedly interested in Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers but he’s in high demand. The England international will be on the plane for this summer’s World Cup.
Manchester Evening News‘ Tyrone Marshall reports that Rogers is of interest to United. His versatility is enticing given he is capable of playing on the left wing.
Rogers enjoyed a sensational past season, racking up 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 games across competitions. He has five years left on his contract at Villa Park.
Man Utd interested in Rogers
Rogers’ ability to play on the left wing isn’t the only reason United are keen. They view him as a potential long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 position.
Fernandes won’t be leaving anytime soon, at least not this summer. In fact, the higher-ups are eager to hand him a new contract as he enters the final year of his current deal.
United have been looking to bolster their left wing options and Rogers could be ideal. The 23-year-old has thrived over the past two seasons, rotating between the wing and attacking midfield.
The Athletic reports that Villa are demanding around £100m for the English star. They want a similar fee to that which they received for Jack Grealish from Manchester City.
An open race
United are just one of a host of top Premier League clubs who admire Rogers. Reports claim that Arsenal have reached out to the player’s representatives and asked to be kept informed of his situation.
Liverpool are also eyeing the Englishman, but their priorities currently lie elsewhere. Manchester City are also in the mix, although he started his career in the Citizens’ youth academy.
United do hold a slight advantage, given that Rogers played under Michael Carrick at Middlesbrough. The club’s sporting director, Jason Wilcox, knows the player from his time working at City’s academy.
Rogers joined Villa from Boro in early 2024 for £16m. He’s since become Unai Emery’s talisman, helping the Villans win the Europa League this season.
