Manchester United are in talks to sign Derby County striker Blake Henry after the 14-year-old scored 45 goals across academy football last season.
The England Under-15 international is expected to leave Derby this summer, with United currently at the head of the queue. Manchester City have also monitored his progress, according to the latest Derbyshire Live update.
Henry has already stepped into Under-18 Premier League football for Derby, playing 24 minutes across two appearances this season.
That context explains why United are moving early rather than waiting for the forward to become a more obvious national academy name.
Derby Compensation Will Shape The Next Stage
The deal is not simply a case of agreeing personal terms.
Derby will be due compensation if Henry completes the move. That figure will be shaped by his age, time in the academy, United’s academy category and the development costs involved.
If the clubs cannot reach an agreement, the matter can go to a Professional Football Compensation Committee tribunal.
For United, the move fits a wider push to strengthen the academy pipeline with elite domestic prospects before rivals can build decisive momentum.
ReadManUtd has already covered how United’s wider transfer work includes a left-sided recruitment focus after the Ederson move. Henry would sit at the other end of that planning, as a long-term academy investment rather than a first-team solution.
Henry is still at the earliest stage of his development.
But his scoring record, England youth recognition and exposure to Under-18 football make this a significant academy recruitment move at Old Trafford.
