Atalanta midfielder Ederson has said his move to Manchester United is “almost done” after making his latest Brazil appearance at the 2026 World Cup. The 26-year-old came off the bench in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Haiti in Philadelphia on Friday and addressed his club future afterwards, with his switch to Old Trafford now sounding close to completion.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia after the match, Ederson said he had to “enjoy this moment” with Brazil before adding that “everything is almost done”, according to a fresh update from beIN SPORTS.
Ederson update points to final steps in United deal
The update matters because United have already been working from an agreed framework with Atalanta. The report says the Serie A club have accepted a package worth €40.5m, roughly £34m, plus €4.5m in potential bonuses, with Ederson understood to have agreed a four-year contract and an option to extend.
His late Brazil call-up had slowed the final stages, but this is now a firmer signal from the player himself rather than another layer of transfer noise. For United, it keeps the deal aligned with Michael Carrick’s midfield rebuild after Casemiro’s departure and ongoing questions around Manuel Ugarte.
ReadManUtd previously covered how Ederson’s transfer had been delayed by Brazil duty, but the tone has now shifted. Unless there is an unexpected hitch with medical or paperwork, the Brazilian looks increasingly likely to become one of United’s headline summer additions.
