Bournemouth have raised their asking price for Alex Scott following Elliot Anderson’s £116m transfer to Manchester City, but Manchester United are not actively pursuing the midfielder.
Bournemouth already had little reason to encourage a sale. Scott has two years left on his current contract, and the Cherries want to agree an extension with the former Bristol City midfielder.
Anderson’s £116m move has now shifted the valuation conversation for young English midfielders even further. Bournemouth can point to that deal and argue Scott belongs in a more expensive bracket.
United’s Midfield Search Has A Clearer Priority
For United, the key point is discipline. Scott has Premier League experience, technical security and long-term upside, but an inflated asking price makes the calculation harder.
Fernandes looks like the more active track for now. If United want a midfielder who can grow into the next version of the team, they cannot chase every domestic name at premium prices.
That is why Scott’s price rise matters even without an active pursuit. It shows how quickly the market is moving around United’s midfield planning.
The club may admire Scott’s profile, but the current focus appears to sit elsewhere.
