- Mason Mount linked with move to AC Milan after Ruben Amorim arrival
- Manchester United have no intention of selling midfielder
- England international set to play big role next season
Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount was linked with a move to AC Milan earlier this week after the Serie A giants’ decision to appoint Ruben Amorim.
And now, MEN have confirmed that the England international is going nowhere, with sources close to the player baffled by recent transfer links.
Mount’s time at Old Trafford has been anything but smooth sailing, with the midfielder having to adapt to new managers, tactics, underperforming players and frequent injury struggles.
However, the 2026-27 season could be big for him as the Red Devils still have high hopes for him.
Mason Mount going nowhere
Mount enjoyed a decent run in the starting XI during the first half of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign under Amorim.
However, the Portuguese boss was sacked in January 2026, with Michael Carrick taking over the reigns on an interim basis.
Mount then picked up an injury that saw him sidelined until mid-March but returned to action towards the back end of the season.
Amid claims that AC Milan are interested, sources close to the player – via MEN – have confirmed that he is going nowhere this summer.
Manchester United still have high hopes for Mount and believe he could be an important player next season, especially with four competitions to tackle.
Amorim’s reported interest in the player comes as no surprise, but the 27-year-old will not be on the move this summer as Manchester United want to retain his services.
Last chance for Mount at Manchester United
Manchester United paid a sizable £55m fee to land Mount from Chelsea despite him having just a year left on his deal.
Since his transfer in the summer of 2023, he has failed to find his best form and has struggled massively with injuries.
Last season, he fared quite well more often than not when fully fit, but again picked up an injury in early 2026, which led to him missing a few games.
When fit and firing, Mount can influence games in the final third, while his defensive work rate is also top-notch.
However, he is running out of time to prove his worth at Old Trafford. Another season with injury issues, coupled with his failure to deliver regularly, would lead to a hard conversation as he is entering the prime of his career.
For now, though, Mount looks set to stay put, as Carrick continues to plan for the forthcoming season with the 27-year-old in the squad.
