Manchester United have been handed a fresh Mason Mount decision after the midfielder was reportedly proposed to AC Milan.
Yahoo Sports, citing Milanpress, reports that Mount has been put forward to the Rossoneri as they continue to reshape their squad under former United head coach Ruben Amorim.
The report does not claim that United have accepted an offer. It also does not say formal negotiations are advanced.
It does, however, add another live thread to a summer already dominated by Michael Carrick’s midfield and attacking balance at Old Trafford.
Carrick Faces Early Mount Call Before Pre-Season
United have confirmed that players will report back to Carrington from Thursday 9 July. That places Mount’s future on a tight practical timeline.
If Milan’s interest becomes concrete, United must decide whether Mount is still part of Carrick’s rotation.
The alternative is clear. A sale could release wages and squad space for another move.
That question matters because United have already been working through a broader midfield rebuild. Carrick needs more control, athleticism and cleaner availability.
ReadManUtd has already looked at how Hayden Hackney interest gives United a midfield test. Mount now sits in a similar conversation.
His talent has never been the issue. His United spell has instead been shaped by rhythm, role and durability.
A move to Milan would reunite him with Amorim’s ideas. For Carrick, though, it would remove a high-level pressing midfielder just as pre-season begins.
For now, this is a market signal rather than a completed transfer.
United’s response will reveal how seriously they view Mount as part of the next phase.
