Manchester United Face Rafael Leao Transfer Call As Tottenham Circle

Manchester United have been handed a sharper transfer call on Rafael Leao after Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly offered a route into the AC Milan forward’s summer market.

TEAMtalk report that Spurs have been given the chance to move for Leao after United made initial enquiries over a possible Old Trafford switch.

TNT Sports has also reported that Barcelona and United have enquired about the Portugal international, with AC Milan’s asking price placed around €60m.

That matters because United’s wide-forward market has been allowed to drift while Michael Carrick’s rebuild has centred heavily on midfield. ReadManUtd has already assessed why a Rafael Leao move could make sense as part of the Marcus Rashford replacement plan.

Carrick Cannot Let Winger Race Drift

Leao is not a risk-free target.

His defensive output, wage level and consistency have all invited scrutiny, but his carrying power from the left remains elite when he is engaged and given space to attack.

The Tottenham angle should force clarity rather than panic. Football Italia reported that Milan are willing to consider offers of at least €60m, but no formal offers have yet arrived from Barcelona, United or Spurs.

That gives United time, but not an excuse to drift.

If Leao is a genuine Carrick target, the club cannot leave the conversation at enquiry level while a Premier League rival explores the same opportunity. If he is not central to the plan, United need to move decisively towards a cleaner alternative.

ReadManUtd has already covered how Carrick’s attack needs a clearer left-sided plan. Leao would provide ball-carrying, star power and a direct route against deep blocks, but he would also demand a tactical structure that protects his flaws.

The worst outcome would be another slow chase that leaves Carrick short of a specialist winger once pre-season work begins.

United do not need to panic because Spurs have been offered a route. They do need to decide whether Leao is worth turning enquiries into action.
