Manchester United Refuse To Rule Out Move For Midfielder Alex Scott

Manchester United are reportedly not ruling out a move for Alex Scott despite Bournemouth valuing the midfielder at £80 million.

The Sun reports that United remain interested in the 22-year-old, with Samuel Luckhurst previously writing that the club had Scott on their midfield shortlist.

Bournemouth’s valuation makes the deal difficult. Scott has two years left on his contract, and the Cherries have been keen to protect his long-term future with a new deal.

United’s midfield search has already moved across several names this summer. They have been linked with Aurelien Tchouameni, Ederson and other Premier League options, but Scott’s age and league experience keep him in the conversation.

Scott Interest Shows United’s Midfield Problem

Scott fits the profile United have been looking at.

He is young, Premier League proven and comfortable carrying the ball through midfield. He would also add technical security to a group that needs more depth and athleticism before the new season.

The issue is price. An £80m valuation leaves United with a major decision, especially when the club are trying to avoid overpaying in a crowded midfield market.

The Sun has also reported that inflated domestic valuations have already affected United’s transfer approach, with several Premier League midfield targets priced at a similar level.

Scott may remain one to watch if Bournemouth’s stance changes later in the window. For now, United interest has not become a formal bid.

That distinction is important. United admire the player, but the numbers still have to make sense.
