Man Utd urged to make stunning Rashford swap for Arsenal star

Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo celebrate with England amid Manchester United reunion talk

Manchester United have been urged to use Marcus Rashford in a sensational swap deal for Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly. Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon believes the proposed exchange could benefit both clubs as uncertainty continues around the futures of both England internationals.

Rashford has returned to Michael Carrick’s squad following his loan spell with Barcelona and is increasingly open to rebuilding his career at Old Trafford.

Man Utd urged to explore Rashford swap

The Evening Standard reports that Dixon has now suggested Rashford could be used in an extraordinary exchange involving Lewis-Skelly.

Dixon believes Mikel Arteta could help Rashford rediscover his best form at Arsenal, while Lewis-Skelly could benefit from a move which offers him more regular football.

It is important to stress that there is no indication United have actually proposed such a swap.

The Lewis-Skelly interest itself is more established.

ReadManUtd reported earlier this month that United had investigated whether Arsenal would consider selling the 19-year-old as Carrick searched for another left-back.

At that stage, United had not made an offer and Arsenal preferred to keep their academy graduate.

Lewis-Skelly’s situation has since attracted further attention, although the Evening Standard says a United deal was not actively being pursued earlier this month.

The suggestion nevertheless arrives at an interesting moment.

United remain interested in strengthening at left-back, while Rashford’s future has changed significantly following his return to Carrick’s squad.

A direct swap remains hypothetical rather than an active negotiation, but Dixon believes it could provide both players with the fresh opportunities they need.
