Cristian Orozco scores first Man Utd goal in ruthless 5-0 rout

Cristian Orozco has scored his first Manchester United goal after the summer signing helped the Under-21s thrash Aston Villa 5-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The 18-year-old only officially completed his move from Colombian side Fortaleza CEIF this summer after United had agreed the deal while he was still 17.

Orozco has now made an immediate impression as he begins adapting to English football at Carrington.

The Sun reports that Orozco raced onto a through ball before producing a delicate chip to score during United’s emphatic 5-0 win over Aston Villa’s Under-21s.

It represents his first goal in United colours following his arrival from Fortaleza.

Chido Obi also continued his encouraging form by finding the net, while Ashton Missin scored twice and Amir Ibragimov completed the scoring.

United have been careful not to place immediate first-team expectations on Orozco despite his reputation as one of Colombia’s brightest young midfield prospects.

ReadManUtd previously reported that the deal was worth around £750,000 and that Orozco was expected to begin life in Manchester with the Under-21s rather than immediately join Michael Carrick’s senior squad.

The midfielder already had limited senior experience in Colombia before making the move and captained his country at Under-17 level.

United’s approach gives Orozco time to adjust without the pressure of immediately competing for Premier League minutes.

His first goal is nevertheless an encouraging early sign.

Scoring with a composed finish during a dominant academy victory gives Orozco another positive moment as United begin integrating one of their most intriguing young summer additions.
