Michael Carrick has praised Benjamin Sesko after the striker continued his promising start to life at Manchester United with another goal in the 4-0 Champions League win over Sabah.
Benjamin Sesko now has two goals in his last two appearances after also finding the net in United’s 2-2 draw with Everton last Sunday. His latest effort came on a night when Michael Carrick handed him another start as he continues to build up his fitness.
The United head coach believes Benjamin Sesko offers something different to the rest of his attacking options, particularly with his physical presence and ability to threaten defenders in behind.
Benjamin Sesko gives Carrick perfect attacking option
“Definitely offers a different kind of threat. That’s the beauty of it – we know what Ben gives us,” Carrick told TNT Sports.
The United boss pointed to Sesko’s physicality, his ability to play on the last line and his pace when running behind the opposition defence.
“There’s not many around that give you what Ben does in terms of physicality, playing on the last line and his speed to run in behind.”
Carrick was also delighted to see the striker back in the starting XI and getting important minutes after working on his fitness.
“A couple of goals, good minutes in him – we’re really pleased with him.”
Sesko’s form also gives Carrick a welcome selection headache. Matheus Cunha scored against Sabah, Bryan Mbeumo netted against Everton and Marcus Rashford has also started the season well.
Michael Carrick admitted selecting his front three will not be easy, but sees that competition as a positive.
“It’s not an easy decision, but it’s definitely one I prefer.”
With United’s attacking players all finding form, Carrick now has a perfect headache ahead of the Manchester Derby.
