Manchester United have handed trials to South American trio Jhon Pereira, Leo Carvalho and Robert Ergas, having impressed in their respective youth ranks throughout the season.
17-year-old Pereira recently lit up the international stage – scoring three goals at the Under-17’s South American championships. The forward currently represents Club Sport Norte América
Meanwhile, 15-year-old central defender Carvalho is one of the most sought-after youngsters in Brazil, currently with Desportivo Brasil, who have enjoyed an affiliation with the Manchester giants.
The partnership between the Red Devils and the fourth tier Brazilian outfit will be keenly remembered by supporters for the potential signing of Bruno Gomes, who as one of Brazil’s hottest prospects was unable to complete a move to England.
Uruguayan central midfielder Ergas is also believed to be with the club, at the age of 17. A statement from his current club, Defensor Sporting, suggested the youngster would spend 10 days in Manchester on trial with the Red Devils.
The trio are certainly not the first to have the opportunity this season, with the likes of Edvard Sandvik Tagseth, Tomasz Kucz, Ryan Johnson and Andrew Lewis featuring on trial this season under the reign of Louis van Gaal.
