Striker would cost United nearly £20 million

Rumoured Manchester United transfer target and one-time potential prodigy of modern football, Alexandre Pato, would cost the Red Devils nearly £20 million to sign in the January transfer window – and Tottenham Hotspur have been given the same quote.

The International Business Times claim that a winter move for the ex-AC Milan player would set Louis van Gaal and Manchester United back £18.5 million.

Pato, who made headlines all over Europe and caught everyone’s attention as a teenager playing in the Champions League for AC Milan, is now 26-years-old. Although he has played with the likes of Ronaldinho, Seedorf and Pirlo, he is now playing for Corinthians in his native Brazil.

United were linked with the striker near the end of the summer transfer window but signed Anthony Martial – however it would be foolish to rely on a 19-year-old for the entire season so maybe a move for Pato in January would be sensible… as long as the injuries which caused his decline from potential superstar to forgotten man are behind him.
