Agent doubts United will land La Liga ace

Since the end of last season, Louis van Gaal has been strongly linked with a move for La Liga star Neymar – but the player’s agent has suggested that the Brazilian will be staying at Barcelona.

Neymar Senior, who is the player’s father as well as being his go-to man for contracts, endorsements and transfers, has revealed that the forward is likely to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Neymar Sr said:

“Stay calm, I’m sure Neymar will renew. There is no hurry because he still has three years on his contract.”

The Brazilian forward is the top scorer in La Liga this season, having really stepped up to the plate in the absence of Lionel Messi, who has spent much of 2015-16 on the sidelines with injury.

Neymar has scored 14 league goals this season and been pivotal in his striker partner, Luis Suarez, picking up 12; one of them is sure to win the Golden Boot come the end of the season.

The United target has also been named as one of the world’s top three players of 2015, by being shortlisted for the prestigious Balon d’Or award, alongside ex-United star Cristiano Ronaldo and of course, Argentinian captain Lionel Messi.
