Manchester United were not expected to conduct much business on deadline day, with most of their transfer activity done earlier in the summer with Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all bolstering José Mourinho’s squad at Old Trafford.
However, a trio of Under-23 players did make their way from Old Trafford on deadline day, both on loan and permanent deals, with the departure of Under-23 captain James Weir to Hull the most notable deal of the day in relation to United.

Weir makes the move after an outstanding season at Under-21 level for the Reds as Warren Joyce’s side retained their Under-21 Premier League title, while also making his senior debut for United as a late substitute during the Reds’ 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford in February.
The Preston-born midfielder was also an unused substitute seven times under former manager Louis van Gaal and will hope to break into the Hull side currently managed by former United assistant manager Mike Phelan.

Pereira is expected to fight for the number one position between the sticks in Lisbon as he looks to fight for a position in the United first-team in the future. The 20-year-old was the Under-21 side’s regular keeper last season and was called up to Portugal’s squad for the Olympics last month, although he failed to play a single game in Brazil.
