Cristiano Ronaldo wants Angel Gomes to leave United

Real Madrid superstar and former Manchester United man Cristiano Ronaldo is determined that his current club should try to lure Red Devils starlet Angel Gomes to the Bernabeu.

This comes according to Don Balon, who report that the Portuguese Balon d’Or holder feels that Real need to target Gomes so that Barcelona can’t themselves bring him in.

The report claims that Ronaldo is assessing how long Los Blancos can keep up their current success, and that he feels that Gomes, 17, is the kind of player the Spanish side need to bring in to ensure long-term success.

Gomes, who was born in 2000, is the nephew of another former United player, Luis Nani, and is seen by many as the future of the Old Trafford club.

The so-called wonderkid joined the Red Devils at the age of six and upon making his senior United debut against Crystal Palace last season, became the first person born in this millennium to play in the Premier League. He is also the youngest ever recipient of the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award and the youngest player to represent United since the late Duncan Edwards.

Gomes is yet to sign a new contract with United so could leave next summer for a much-reduced fee, similar to Paul Pogba’s exit to Juventus, which eventually cost United £89 million as they brought him back to the club in 2016. It is thought that £4 million would be the price for Gomes, which speaks volumes of his ability, when we compare that with the £800,000 fee which was required for Pogba when he left.
