  • First Red Devils game in three weeks

Manchester United host Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday, April 13, in the Premier League. Michael Carrick’s men have been preparing for the encounter with a four-day training camp in Dublin this week.

Daniel Farke’s side are set to be without three key players ahead of their trip to Manchester next week. Anton Stach and Joe Rodon picked up injuries in the FA Cup win over West Ham United last week, and face a spell on the sidelines.

The Whites are also without former Red Devils star Dan James, who has an adductor strain. The pacy winger was out of the match at the London Stadium last week, and the manager confirmed in his press conference:

“Not the best news today, in general. Anton Stach will definitely miss the game on Monday, ankle injury after the cup game. Also, Joe Rodon will miss the game, also an ankle injury for him. Daniel James also miss the game. So he had sadly an adductor strain just in the session before the cup game and won’t be available.”

Manchester United drew 1-1 at Leeds United in the Premier League earlier this season. Carrick wasn’t in charge at the time as it proved to be Ruben Amorim’s final game in charge before he was sacked.

Doubts for Leeds United

The trio are not the only players who could miss the trip to Old Trafford on Monday. Goalkeeper Jaka Bijol and winger Noah Okafor were not training this week but could make the matchday squad against Manchester United.

Farke said:

“A few more question marks. Jaka Bijol is currently struggling with a knock. He was not in team training yet during this week. Noah Okafor today, not in team training, is struggling with some back problems – also question mark behind his availability.”

Sweden star Gabriel Gudmundsson also missed the FA Cup clash against West Ham last week, and Farke has said that the full-back had a groin issue after the international duty last month:

“Gabi Gudmundsson has made some progress. He came back with some light groin problems after the international games, so he is making light progress. But all three of them are doubts. So, if you would play the game already tomorrow, then all three wouldn’t be available. We have a bit more time and I am hopeful that I have all three of them also ready.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United have been handed an injury boost, with Lisandro Martinez returning to full training. He was pictured in updates posted by the club on social media earlier this week, and Michael Carrick will be delighted to have him back for the business end of the season.
