Bruno Fernandes has been discussing Harry Kane and his decision to move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich. The Manchester United captain believes the Englishman would have become the Premier League’s all-time top scorer.

Kane’s decision to join the German giants has now given him a better chance at winning the Ballon d’Or.
The 32-year-old spent 14 years with Spurs and played in multiple finals, even guiding his former side to the 2019 Champions League final.

However, the results have been the same: Tottenham have always fallen short. Additionally, he became the side’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals, surpassing Jimmy Greaves.

In 2023, he moved to the Bavarian side and finally won his first major trophy in 2025, when he won the Bundesliga. This season, the Bayern star could guide his side to back-to-back titles and even a shot at personal glory with the Ballon d’Or.

Fernandes Hails Kane’s Smart Choice

While speaking to the Sunday Times, Fernandes showed his admiration for Kane. The United icon discussed the importance of winning trophies, saying:

If he had stayed [at Tottenham] another one or two seasons, he’d have been the best goalscorer ever in the Premier League. So, would he have been a legend or not? He would”

Fernandes spoke on the chances of winning the ‘Ballon d’Or’, given the former Spurs striker has scored a staggering 49 goals in only 41 games this season:

“He decided to go to Bayern, and the decision is good because he knows he has a big chance of winning trophies. And now we’re talking about Harry Kane that is scoring the same amount of goals he was scoring at Tottenham, but he might win a Ballon d’Or now because he’s going to win trophies.”

Since joining the Red Devils in 2020, the Portuguese has become the team’s heartbeat. The 31-year-old has won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup for United. He has made 320 appearances and scored 106 goals for the club.

How Fernandes Shaped United’s campaign

This season can be divided into two parts. The first half was a lull period. However, the second turned out to be a chapter of redemption. Michael Carrick’s arrival came at the right time to boost United. And the captain stepped up by scoring 8 goals and providing 16 assists in 27 outings in the Premier League.

Those 16 services made the Portuguese the all-time assist maker for a season, breaking David Beckham’s record. The midfielder’s presence has been vital for the side. A place in next season’s Champions League is within reach, and the United captain’s form is pivotal in taking them there.

On the other hand, the 31-year-old’s contract ends at the end of next season. And according to Express, the midfielder wants a guarantee that the side will be challenging for major honours, for his future to continue at Old Trafford.
