- Six players could leave Man Utd
- Casemiro already announced his departure
- Two current first-team stars at risk of sale
Manchester United are set for a busy summer transfer window and that includes outgoings. Casemiro has already confirmed he will be leaving once his contract expires.
According to Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News, five other players are likely to depart. The club have been drawing up a list of targets and the expectation is that a high-profile midfielder will replace Casemiro.
United have been linked with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson. It’s not just in midfield where the club might be plotting changes.

Six heading for Man Utd exit
Marshall delved into United’s transfer plans and named six players, including Casemiro, whose futures likely lie away from Old Trafford. He said:
“Let’s start with midfield, where we can expect at least two and possibly three new additions if they can find a taker for Manuel Ugarte. Expect an elite-level player to replace Casemiro, another high-quality addition and then a squad player.”
Manuel Ugarte has endured a miserable spell at United since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024. The Uruguayan has failed to become the long-term Casemiro replacement the club had hoped for.
Marshall added:
“There is a desire to sign a left-sided player and possibly two, in terms of a left-back and a winger. United are short of options in both departments with Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford leaving this summer.”
Marcus Rashford has spent the season on loan at Barcelona and is eager to make the move permanent. The La Liga champions possess a £26m buy option but they are still to decide whether to take it up.
Jadon Sancho has been on loan at Aston Villa and the worst signing in the club’s history is set to leave when his contract expires. That’s a similar situation for Tyrell Malacia who has been frozen out of the first-team.
Marshall continued:
“There could also be a new forward if Joshua Zirkzee leaves, a more low-key, experienced addition. I would guess at five or six new signings.’”
Joshua Zirkzee is the one player on that list who some fans might feel deserves more time. The Dutch attacker has frustrated but clearly loves playing for the club.
Many changes
United’s priority will be replacing Casemiro, but there is a need to strengthen in the aforementioned positions. A new left-winger could be on the cards, and Jonathan Rowe is the latest to be linked.
As for a potential new number nine, there hasn’t been much talk of any frontman emerging as a top target. But there are some big-name strikers available, including Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with Barca expires.
Michael Carrick is set to remain as head coach on a new two-year deal, and he’s already been involved in planning for the summer. He’ll want a squad strong enough to compete domestically and in the Champions League.
