- Man Utd could offload Andre Onana
- Trabzonspor make offer for Cameroonian goalkeeper
- Onana is one of four Erik ten Hag mistakes
Manchester United have reportedly received an offer from Trabzonspor for Andre Onana. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has spent the season on loan with the Turkish club.
Turkish reporter Hasan Tuncel reports that the Turkish Super Lig club have presented both United and Onana with offers. There’s no word on the fee, but discussions have been held with the player.
Onana joined Trabzonspor amid a disastrous spell at Old Trafford, failing to live up to expectations. He has been Fatih Tekke’s number one throughout the campaign.

End of an error
Onana has made 33 appearances across competitions, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 41 goals. There had been suggestions that the 30-year-old believes he can still be a success at United.
While that might still be the case, it’s clear on the club’s side that he is not part of soon-to-be-permanent head coach Michael Carrick’s plans. Senne Lammens’ extraordinary debut season means he is the undisputed number one and will be for years to come.
Onana joined United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for £43.8m. Erik ten Hag turned to his former Ajax goalkeeper to replace David de Gea, a tall order given the Spaniard’s legacy at the Theatre of Dreams.
It’s hard to look past the calamity that ensued with Onana between the sticks for the Red Devils. A bag of nerves that certainly didn’t fill his defenders with confidence every time the opposition were on the attack.
Onana started the season as backup to Altay Bayindir under Ruben Amorim despite recovering from a hamstring injury. His last outing came in the grim Carabao Cup third round loss to Grimsby Town, a night in which he truly reached rock bottom.
Ten Hag’s terrible transfers
Ten Hag’s influence on United’s transfer business looks increasingly worse with each passing transfer window since his departure. Other than Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee, INEOS have been superb in the recruitment department.
Onana is one of four signings that arrived during Ten Hag’s reign without INEOS driving their acquisitions. You could argue that only one, Lisandro Martinez, should remain at the club this summer.
Bayindir is likewise looking set to depart amid interest from Besiktas, and there has reportedly been an agreement in place for months. Tyrell Malacia’s contract expires this summer, and he’s on his way out. Mason Mount’s future is the subject of speculation amid an injury-plagued spell with the Reds.
