England superfan Andy Milne makes bold Harry Kane choice when deciding between World Cup 2026 and Euro ‘96 Stars

England superfan Andy Milne has given his verdict on England stars past and present.

The Three Lions opened their 2026 World Cup campaign with a 4-2 victory over Croatia last night in Dallas.

And Manchester United supporter Milne – who put his second home on the market to fund his trip to the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer – was asked to compare today’s current crop with the stars of Euro ‘96.

Starting with goalkeepers David Seaman or Jordan Pickford, Milne, who stars in the latest Betfair campaign said: “That’s an interesting one, I think most people would expect me to say David Seaman, but when you look at the record over recent years Pickford wins on all accounts.

When offered between Tony Adams or Harry Maguire, Milne perhaps revealed his club loyalty by responding: “Oh I’m just going to have to go heart ruling head as I’m a big Manchester United fan [so] Harry Maguire.

“Also if you want a central defender who’s going to go up and score goals Harry’s going to do it for us.

In midfield he was given the choice between Paul Gascoigne or Jude Bellingham and responded: “Gotta go with Gazza, especially the goal against Scotland with the dentist chair celebration.

When asked to select the best winger from Steve McManaman and Bukayo Saka, Milne said: “I’m going to go with Saka for that great goal against Switzerland in Euro 2024.

And when pressed over Alan Shearer or Harry Kane, the former teacher said: “I remember at the time thinking that there would never be a better striker for England than Alan Shearer, but Harry Kane has just done it.

“He’s scored so many goals and has outdone him. It has to be Harry.”
