Karl Darlow is reportedly set to reject Manchester United interest and sign a new two-year contract with Leeds United.
That would force United back into the experienced goalkeeper market at a delicate point in Michael Carrick’s summer rebuild.
Sports Mole, citing The Leeds Press, reports that the 35-year-old is now expected to stay at Elland Road until 2028, despite United holding interest in a potential move. LeedsAllOver had previously noted that The Athletic listed Darlow among the names under consideration while Leeds waited for clarity on his future.
Manchester United are considering a move for Karl Darlow as they search for an experienced backup goalkeeper. The 35-year-old’s contract at Leeds United expires this summer.

Why Darlow’s Decision Matters
This was never about United signing a headline goalkeeper. It was about securing a senior No.2 who could sit behind Senne Lammens, handle cup minutes and keep the dressing-room hierarchy clean.
That is why Darlow’s preference matters. If he stays at Leeds to protect first-team football, United lose one of the cheaper, homegrown options who fitted the brief without threatening Lammens’ status.
ReadManUtd has already covered how the Angus Gunn link underlined United’s goalkeeper hierarchy. Darlow’s reported snub sharpens the same point: Carrick needs experience, but he also needs a player willing to accept the job description.
The next name on the shortlist now becomes more important than the fee. United cannot let the back-up role become another noisy subplot before pre-season.
