Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa on a contract running until June 2031.
The Belgium international joins subject to registration after United activated the release clause in his Villa contract, reportedly worth around £35m.
Tielemans recently returned from the World Cup, where he captained Belgium during their run to the quarter-finals. He has now become United’s third summer addition after Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow.
United confirmed the transfer through their official announcement, with Tielemans describing the move as the culmination of years of work.

Tielemans arrives after helping Aston Villa win the Europa League last season.
The 29-year-old scored the opening goal against Freiburg in the final and registered seven assists across the campaign. His passing numbers also underline why Carrick wanted another experienced midfielder.
Among Premier League midfielders and attackers, Tielemans completed the second-highest number of line-breaking passes under pressure last season. He also broke more defensive lines per 100 passes than any comparable player, according to United’s announcement.
Those qualities should help Carrick build a midfield capable of controlling possession more consistently.
ReadManUtd previously reported that United had entered advanced talks for Tielemans after stepping away from Éderson. The deal progressed quickly once Belgium’s World Cup campaign ended.
Tielemans can operate as a deeper playmaker or move forward as a No 8. His arrival gives Carrick several possible combinations involving Santos, Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.
Director of football Jason Wilcox praised the Belgian’s composure, creativity and consistency, while also highlighting the leadership he can bring to the dressing room.
United have added a player capable of making an immediate contribution rather than another long-term development project.
Tielemans’ six-year contract represents a significant commitment. It also gives Carrick an experienced midfielder who already understands the demands of English football.
