Man Utd officially announce Spain trip and Newcastle friendly

Manchester United Women will travel to Spain for a five-day pre-season camp as Marc Skinner prepares his squad for the 2026/27 campaign.

United will be based in La Manga, in the south-eastern region of Murcia, from Friday, 14 August until Wednesday, 19 August.

The squad will train in Spain and play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Women’s Super League 2 side Newcastle United.

The club have not confirmed the exact date or kick-off time for the fixture, which will provide both teams with valuable match minutes before the domestic season begins.

Manchester United’s official announcement confirms the camp dates and Newcastle friendly, with the team due to return home just over two weeks before the opening WSL weekend.

United step up WSL preparations

The new Women’s Super League campaign is scheduled to begin between Friday, 4 September and Sunday, 6 September.

United will discover their opening opponents when the complete fixture list is released at 10am BST on Thursday, 30 July.

Skinner will use the Spain camp to improve fitness levels, work on tactical ideas and integrate new players into his squad.

Andrea Medina has already arrived from Atlético Madrid, while several academy players have signed professional contracts this summer.

As Read Man Utd reported, the women’s Under-21 side will also train at Carrington next season as United seek closer alignment between the academy and Skinner’s first team.

The camp arrives during a period of squad change following Millie Turner’s permanent move to Birmingham City and continued uncertainty around Melvine Malard’s future.

United have also frozen women’s season-ticket prices at £80 for adults and £40 for concessions. The early price deadline is 6pm BST on Wednesday, 22 July.

The Newcastle friendly is currently the first confirmed match of United Women’s summer schedule.
