Manchester United keeping tabs on Real Madrid duo Camavinga and Tchouameni

Manchester United are keeping an eye on two Real Madrid midfielders as INEOS continue to assess the market for another potential addition in the middle of the pitch.

Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are both understood to be on United’s radar, with ESPN journalist Rob Dawson claiming the club would be ready to explore either deal if Real Madrid decide to make them available.

Manchester United have already spent heavily in midfield this summer. The club signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £48 million before activating Youri Tielemans’ £35 million release clause at Aston Villa. Whether there is room for another major addition remains unclear, but the interest in Real Madrid’s pair shows the club are still watching for an opportunity.

Real Madrid could create an opening for United

Dawson believes United were aware before the summer that Real Madrid could be willing to move some players on.

“United were told before the summer that Real Madrid were going to look to try and get a few players out the door,” Dawson said.

Camavinga appears to have been one player offered to Premier League clubs through intermediaries as potential interest was tested.

“As far as I know, Camavinga was offered to Premier League clubs by intermediaries just to gauge interest.”

Tchouameni’s situation is slightly different. Dawson pointed towards uncertainty surrounding his contract, although there has reportedly been a verbal agreement over his future that has yet to be formally announced.

“The Tchouameni one is a little bit of a different of a situation, obviously there is that contract situation which is a little bit strange, our guys in Spain think there has been a verbal agreement there but it’s not been announced, so until it gets announced, you never know.”

For United, that uncertainty could be enough to keep the midfielder under consideration.

“I think United are looking at those two as market opportunities.”

That doesn’t mean either player is close to Old Trafford. United would still need several factors to align before a move could happen.

Dawson stressed that the players would have to genuinely want the transfer and that any deal would need to work within the club’s financial structure.

Camavinga still wants to stay at Real Madrid

Of the two midfielders, Camavinga’s situation appears to be the more complicated one for United.

The France international endured an injury-hit season, missing 11 matches. He made 29 LaLiga appearances but started just 16 times, scoring once and registering no assists.

His difficult campaign also saw him miss out on France’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Despite the speculation, Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that Camavinga’s preference has not changed. The midfielder reportedly wants to remain at Real Madrid and has continued to communicate that position to interested clubs.

“The answer Camavinga is giving to all the clubs, United and those interested before United has always been the same – Camavinga wants to stay at Real Madrid,” Romano said. “He wants to continue at Real Madrid and is not changing his mind. And so as of today there are no changes and he insists on staying at Real Madrid.”

That would appear to make a United move difficult, particularly with Camavinga reportedly receiving assurances about his future at Madrid.

Still, United’s interest is unlikely to disappear completely while there is uncertainty over his situation. The same applies to Tchouameni, whose position could become clearer once his contract situation is formally resolved.
