Manchester United are facing interest from Chelsea in teenage sensation JJ Gabriel, with the Blues reportedly among several major clubs monitoring one of the most exciting young players at Old Trafford.
Gabriel is only 15 but has already made a huge impression at youth level. Despite his age, he was named the U18 Premier League Player of the Season for 2025/26 after a standout season.
Chelsea join race for JJ Gabriel
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are showing strong interest in Gabriel, while several other heavyweight clubs across England and Europe are also keeping tabs on the youngster.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are all reported to have an interest in the highly-rated teenager.
Manchester United are aware of the growing attention and are already working on a plan to protect Gabriel’s future at the club. There remains confidence inside Old Trafford that he can be retained, despite the interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
At 16, he will be eligible to sign scholarship terms, while United are also looking to put a pre-contract in place for his eventual professional deal.
JJ Gabriel has already made United history
Gabriel’s rise has been remarkably quick. Earlier in 2025, when he was only 14, he became the youngest player to feature for Manchester United’s Under-18 side. He continued to develop and ended the 2025/26 season with the U18 Player of the Season award.
Gabriel has also already represented United at senior level in pre-season, coming off the bench against Atletico Madrid in Stockholm. The appearance made him the youngest player ever to represent the club.
United’s priority now is making sure his rapid progress continues in Manchester.
Chelsea’s interest is a clear sign of how highly Gabriel is regarded outside the club, but United remain determined to secure his scholarship and tie him for a professional future at Old Trafford.
