Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Paris Saint-Germain over Ibrahim Mbaye as interest in the highly-rated teenager takes another significant step forward.
United were already among several European clubs tracking the 18-year-old, but fresh reporting in Spain says they have now approached PSG about his situation.
Mbaye’s future in Paris is increasingly uncertain despite his considerable potential, with fierce competition for attacking places under Luis Enrique.
Man Utd contact PSG over Ibrahim Mbaye
Spanish outlet AS reports that United are among a lengthy list of clubs to have enquired directly with PSG about Mbaye. Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa and Roma are also interested.
A loan remains one possible solution, although some of Mbaye’s suitors are interested in signing him permanently.
PSG are demanding more than €50m before considering a sale, while his current contract expires in 2028.
ReadManUtd reported last week that United had entered the race for Mbaye, although their interest had not progressed beyond that stage at the time.
The latest development therefore represents a meaningful step forward.
United have also had a close look at the Senegal international this summer. Mbaye scored after just two minutes when PSG drew 1-1 with Michael Carrick’s side in Gothenburg last weekend.
His combination of pace, direct running and ability to operate across the forward line makes him an intriguing option as Carrick continues to reshape his squad.
No agreement or formal bid has yet been reported, and United face considerable competition if they decide to push ahead.
Contact with PSG, however, suggests their interest in Mbaye has now moved beyond simply monitoring one of Europe’s most highly-rated young attackers.
