Three European giants target Bruno Fernandes as Man Utd contract talks stall

Manchester United face fresh interest in Bruno Fernandes after Juventus, AC Milan and Galatasaray emerged as potential suitors for the club captain.

Fernandes remains central to Michael Carrick’s plans at Old Trafford, but his contract situation has left the door open to interest from elsewhere.

The 31-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal, although United retain the option to extend it for a further season.

Bruno Fernandes Man Utd future attracts fresh interest

BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone revealed on X that Juventus, AC Milan and Galatasaray are all interested in Fernandes.

Stone also confirmed there is no agreement over a new Manchester United contract yet, raising the prospect of United’s resolve being tested before the transfer window closes.

No formal bid from any of the three clubs has been reported at this stage.

United’s position has previously been clear. ReadManUtd reported in July that Fernandes was expected to remain at Old Trafford despite talks over fresh terms failing to produce an agreement.

His importance to Carrick is difficult to overstate.

Fernandes registered a record-breaking 21 Premier League assists last season and remains United’s captain and primary creative influence.

He also returned to action during Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United, coming off the bench as United continued their preparations for the new Premier League campaign.

United therefore have little incentive to entertain offers unless either Fernandes’ position or the club’s stance changes.

However, interest from three major European clubs ensures his contract situation will remain under scrutiny while no new agreement is in place.
