Man Utd receive €5m Joshua Zirkzee bid as Fiorentina advance talks

Manchester United have received an official offer from Fiorentina for Joshua Zirkzee as the Serie A club step up attempts to sign the forward before the transfer window closes.

Fiorentina are proposing an initial loan and have offered United a €5million loan fee, with a clause allowing the deal to become permanent also being discussed.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Fiorentina are now in advanced talks with United, with negotiations also taking place with Zirkzee’s representatives.

The development represents significant progression after ReadManUtd reported earlier on Thursday that Zirkzee expected to leave Old Trafford, when Juventus appeared to be his most likely destination.

Fiorentina make Joshua Zirkzee move

Fiorentina have now moved ahead of United’s other suitors by submitting a concrete proposal.

BBC senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel reports that Zirkzee is open to joining Fiorentina, with the two clubs discussing a season-long loan containing an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

An agreement is not yet described as close, however, meaning negotiations over the structure of the deal still need to be completed.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that Fiorentina are working on a loan worth around €5m.

Zirkzee’s position at United has become increasingly uncertain under Michael Carrick.

The 25-year-old was an unused substitute during the opening Premier League defeat at Hull City despite impressing during pre-season. He has scored nine goals in 75 appearances since arriving from Bologna for £36.5m in 2024.

United have already received interest from elsewhere this summer, including an enquiry from Aston Villa earlier in the window.

Fiorentina have now gone considerably further.

With an official proposal submitted and Zirkzee reportedly receptive to the move, United must decide whether the financial structure is sufficient to sanction his return to Serie A before Monday’s transfer deadline.
