Forward leaves for Austrian side after finding minutes difficult at Man Utd

Manchester United academy forward Gabriele Biancheri has left the club after agreeing to a permanent move to Austrian second-tier side Wacker Innsbruck.

The 19-year-old joined Manchester United from Cardiff City in 2023 with a lot of hope and promise of a massive talent. He quickly became part of the academy setup and played a role in the Under-18 side that lifted both the league title and Premier League Cup during the 2023/24 season.

Gabriele Biancheri later stepped up to the Under-21s and featured in last season’s Premier League 2 final. He scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist last season in the Premier League 2.

His development also included a spell away from Old Trafford, with the forward joining Rotherham United during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.

Gabriele Biancheri leaves without first-team appearance

Despite his immense potential and talents, his time with United ends without a senior appearance for the first team. The loan at Rotherham was his first experience of senior football, and he made 11 appearances for the League One club.

Biancheri is eligible to represent Canada through his Canadian mother and was previously involved with the Canada senior squad as a training player ahead of the 2025 Canadian Shield tournament in Toronto.

Manchester United have now confirmed his permanent departure, with Wacker Innsbruck becoming the next club in his career.

The Austrian side currently competes in the country’s second division.
