Bad news for Michael Carrick as another Man Utd star injured on international duty

Manchester United have suffered another injury concern after Noussair Mazraoui was forced off during Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho on Tuesday.

The right-back went down in the 69th minute after sliding into a challenge. Mazraoui was seen holding his lower back and immediately looked in discomfort, as detailed by TalkSport, with his teammates quickly alerting the bench that he could not continue.

Morocco were leading 1-0 when the 28-year-old was replaced. There is currently no further information on the seriousness of the injury.

Manchester United injury list keeps growing

Mazraoui’s setback adds to a difficult period for Michael Carrick, with United already dealing with several fitness concerns during the international break.

Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford both withdrew from the England squad after picking up knocks in the 1-1 draw with Fulham. Bruno Fernandes has also been dealing with an injury after featuring for Portugal earlier in the break, while Patrick Dorgu returned to United after suffering a suspected hamstring problem with Denmark.

The growing list of absentees comes at an awkward time for Manchester United. Carrick’s side have won just one of their first five Premier League matches and are also without a victory in their last five games in all competitions.

Their only wins so far have come against Ipswich and FK Sabah, leaving United 12th in the Premier League.

Carrick is already under pressure, and the next challenge will not be straightforward. United return from the international break against Tottenham, with the club now waiting to discover how long Mazraoui could be unavailable.
