Manchester United’s injury list has grown during the international break, with Michael Carrick facing several selection headaches before the Premier League returns this weekend.
Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo both withdrew from England duty, while Benjamin Sesko also pulled out of Slovenia’s squad. Further news on their fitness is awaited ahead of the Tottenham game. However, Mainoo and Rashford are expected to be available for the Saturday game.
Manchester United are yet to provide an update on Sesko, whose shin problem returned after the EFL Cup defeat to Brighton three weeks ago. The striker missed the following match against Fulham, and another spell on the sidelines would leave Carrick short of options in attack.
There are also concerns over Amad Diallo, who has not featured this season after suffering an ankle injury before the start of the season. His recovery has stayed on track, and there is an outside chance of his availability against Tottenham.
Patrick Dorgu among Manchester United injury concerns
Patrick Dorgu could be one of the bigger worries after being forced off during Denmark’s meeting with Wales. The Danish went down off the ball with around 30 minutes played before eventually limping away, with a hamstring problem appearing to be the issue.
Noussair Mazraoui also brought his international involvement to an early end, adding to Carrick’s concerns.
There is better news surrounding Matthijs de Ligt, who has been sidelined with a back injury since November 2025. The Dutchman underwent surgery in May this year. He reportedly featured in a behind-closed-doors match against Lausanne-Sport during the break, suggesting a return is near.
Carlos Baleba hasn’t featured for United since his big-money move from Brighton. He also played the friendly against Lausanne during the break. He is set to feature against Tottenham on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte continues his recovery on the sidelines and is expected to be available next year. Bruno Fernandes also had an injury scare during the international break but was fit for Portugal’s subsequent games. He is expected to lead the team against Tottenham.
