Manchester United youngster Jack Moorhouse has returned to the club after suffering a serious ACL injury while on loan at Dundee.
The 20-year-old midfielder was hurt during a behind-closed-doors friendly arranged by Dundee during the international break. Jack Moorhouse went down with a knee problem and was later sent for a scan to determine the extent of the injury.
The results have reportedly confirmed the worst, with Jack Moorhouse now expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Jack Moorhouse faces lengthy spell out
Moorhouse had only recently moved to Scotland after joining Dundee on loan from Manchester United on deadline day.
The Ireland Under-21 international made his Scottish Premiership debut against Hearts, playing 45 minutes in a 2-1 defeat. He then started against Motherwell, helping Dundee secure a 2-1 victory. The two remain his only Dundee appearances before making a return to Manchester United.
Moorhouse returned to Carrington for further assessment after suffering the injury. The setback is another frustrating moment for a midfielder who has been viewed as one of the more promising players to come through United’s academy in recent years.
He spent the previous campaign on loan at Leyton Orient in League One, making 24 appearances across all competitions. Moorhouse scored once and provided two assists during his time with the club before returning to United.
There is also an unfortunate pattern developing at Dundee, with Moorhouse becoming the third player at the club to suffer an ACL injury this season after Simon Murray and Fin Robertson.
Manchester United already have multiple injuries, with Benjamin Sesko and Luke Shaw out before the international break. Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford pulled out of the England squad over fitness concerns.
The international window has brought another wave of injuries as Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui and Bruno Fernandes have all been injured.
