Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Adrien Truffert, but any move for the Bournemouth left-back is unlikely to come cheaply.
Adrien Truffert has impressed since arriving at Bournemouth and has already been linked with Manchester United on several occasions. The France international is now viewed as one of the options the club could consider as they look to strengthen at left-back.
According to TEAMtalk, Bournemouth value the 24-year-old at around £60million. That valuation is unlikely to change United’s interest, but it does make a potential deal a complicated one.
Truffert started every Premier League game for Bournemouth last season, underlining how important he has become to the Cherries. United are understood to see him as a possible long-term successor to Luke Shaw.
Bournemouth refuse to lower Adrien Truffert asking price
Bournemouth have already shown they are prepared to stand their ground when bigger clubs come calling. The club is not interested in selling their key players below what they believe is their market value and have resisted approaches during the summer.
That stance is unlikely to change during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur has also reported that United are monitoring Truffert, claiming the defender is open to a move to Old Trafford. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are expected to remain difficult negotiators.
That leaves United with a decision to make. Truffert fits the profile of a long term solution at left back, but the £60m figure means they would have to decide whether he is worth a significant upgrade.
Michael Carrick meanwhile faces a difficult selection question as United are short of left-back options. After signing no back-up on the position, Carrick has to make up with alternates as Luke Shaw, Dorgu and Mazraoui all face fitness concerns.
