According to Lokomotiv Moscow’s Manuel Fernandes, Manchester United winger Nani has enquired about life in Instanbul as a move to Fenerbahce for the Red Devil is set to be done and dusted by this week.
Despite making a success of himself at Sporting CP, the Portuguese side could not fork out for his wages although the 28-year-old was pivotal with his seven goals in 27 appearances. Nani could go on to be equally as prosperous in the Super Lig as it is of a similar standard to the Primeira Liga. First team football is key for the man-in-question as opposed to languishing in the Reds’ reserve side, with Memphis Depay is already more of a fans favourite and more likely to be handed the jersey ahead of Nani without even featuring yet!
Nani’s childhood friend revealed that he has ‘asked me [Fernandes] questions about Instanbul.’ The midfielder also told LigTV; ‘I explained the pros and cons about moving to Instanbul. He has already made up his mind, however, it is up to him to unveil his next step.’
He may not be going alone though with the Super Lig side intensifying their interested in Robin van Persie after rivals Galatasaray opted to back out of the race. The £10million fee to fork out per year on the striker who will soon be turning 32 has also provoked Roma and Lazio to search elsewhere for attacking options. With only a year left remaining on his current deal at the Theatre of Dreams, van Gaal is looking to offload the Dutchman.
The Holland International could give Fenerbahce the edge on Galatasaray next term as they were the runners up last season to the latter club. Fenerbahce will no doubt be in search of revenge as the latter are none other than their arch-enemies.
