Manchester United scouts were in action last term as they set their sights on Lucas Biglia, the Argentina and Lazio ace. Reportedly renewing their interest, the Red Devils won’t be without competition though as there are many European giants also on their marks and waiting for the klaxon in the race for his signature.
It comes as no surprise that he is attracting such attention having featured in the World Cup final for his country last year although it ended in tears. The fee required to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford will be much greater than what Lazio paid to poach him from Anderlecht, a mere figure of around £7million. Louis van Gaal is supposedly lining up a £18.6million offer for the defensive midfielder.
Inevitably reluctant to part with their standout performer, the Serie A outfit do have one ear open to reasonable bids as every player has his price and they won’t be in haste to accept any old coffers with three years remaining on Biglia’s current paperwork.
Chelsea and Paris St-Germain could look to return to the table as they were also won over by his efforts last campaign.
