United handed Schneiderlin boost

Manchester United have been handed a massive boost in their bid to land Morgan Schneiderlin with the Mail reporting that he will leave Southampton this summer.

Schneiderlin is rumoured to be one of United’s many transfer targets with Louis van Gaal known to be looking at central midfield options. The Southampton man has supposedly come to an agreement with the club that will allow him to leave this transfer window.

The French international reportedly wanted to leave the Saints last summer but ended up staying and enjoying another impressive season as Ronald Koeman’s side finished in seventh place.

United are not the only side being linked with a move for the 25-year-old and will face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Any move will cost the club £24 million and will be dependent on whether or not van Gaal can land his top midfield target, Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Morgan Schneiderlin has made 260 appearances for Southampton since signing from Strasbourg in 2008. He has played 9 times for the French national side and was a part of their 2014 World Cup squad.
