United interested in Turkish international

Atletico Madrid player Arda Turan looks set to move to the Premier League this summer with Manchester United firmly in race for his signature, according to Simon Rice of The Independent

Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut, recently spoke to Spanish publication AS about his client’s desire to move to England.

“His will is to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career.

“We are currently in talks with three teams but I cannot reveal the names of the clubs.

“However, I can tell you they are the best in England and in European football.”

It is reported that Liverpool are also in the hunt for him. United are eying more creative players to strengthen their team after earning qualification to the Champions League.

Turan, who is a Turkish international, is a regular in Diego Simeone’s side and contributed to their success in the 2013/14 season. He joined Atletico from Galatasaray in 2011 for a fee thought to be in the region of €12 million. The 28-year-old established himself as a key member in the team and has accumulated over 100 appearances for them.

He was ever-present when Athletico won La Liga in 2014 and finished as runners-up in the Champions League. But after several years in Spain, he may feel it is time to seek pastures new and Louis van Gaal will feel confident in persuading him to join.

He has amassed over 80 caps for his national team.
