Social media is a great platform for sports fans to get an insight on professional athlete’s lives and possibly communicate with them.
It’s that time of year where there are numerous transfer rumours over twitter, and football fans search for the reliable sources and remove the fakes. They also view their club’s transfer target’s activity, hoping they drop any hints over their future.
This is no hint, but it’s got United fans even more hopeful over a possible transfer. On Sergio Ramos’ verified Twitter account, the Spaniard has recently followed a United supporter.
AS and the Telegraph have confirmed that Manchester United have recently improved their bid for the Real Madrid defender, who is reportedly unhappy with his current wage at the Galacticos.
On Liga BBVA’s official Twitter account, a tweet of theirs translated to “Sergio Ramos, a decade in the service of the Real Madrid”, and a United fan presumed it would be coming to an end with a response “so he’s going?” – What a surprise it would have been for him to see that his new follower was in fact Sergio Ramos.
Once other United fans became aware of Ramos’ activity, they urged the fan to get in contact and direct message him over the social network site. He sent messages to Ramos saying; “Thankyou for following me, you’re my idol and my favourite player. The fans love you so much and want you to become the club’s leader.
Will his voice be heard? Only time will tell if Sergio Ramos will be wearing the white of Real Madrid or the red of Manchester United next season.
